A Warrior of Light and Darkness both, Ardbert hails from the First shard of Hydaelyn. Having sought to defeat all Darkness in his world, Ardbert and his friends unintentionally caused the Flood of Light, which nearly destroyed all life in their world. Following a failed Ascian ploy, Ardbert and his friends wound up sacrificing their lives to stay the tide and halt the Flood -- only Ardbert alone was not allowed to join them. With a role still to play, Ardbert was cursed to roam the land for 100 years, unseen and unheard. He was a ghost in all but name, a man who could not escape the consequences of his mistakes, who wandered the world hoping to find meaning in his limited existence.
